Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
