A person who contaminated sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children both nine and 10.

The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in July.

The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.

However, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the court.

She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he operated.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor stated items including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the authorities about his concerns.

She stated Ruben went on to conduct the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

The legal representative said the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the authorities once more.

She said the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
