Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
